Colorado River Wildlife
A variety of plants and animals can be found in and around the Colorado River. It's water and wetlands provide habitat for migrating birds. Bighorn sheep, elk, mule deer, bear, and mountain lion can be seen along the banks. Since the Colorado region is dry, the river is a resource for the wildlife.
The river is home to many species of fish, with four types of them being endangered. Fish that are commonly found here are trout, bass, perch, catfish, walleye, carp, and wiper. Multiple amphibians reside at the Colorado river. Toads and frogs, colorful lizards and geckos, and iguanas can be found there. Tortoises and turtles inhabit the river. Certain areas of the river have river dolphins, or freshwater dolphins.
